Easter and FHE

As Easter is this sunday we took Monday night at Family Home Evening to review the events of the week leading up to the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Shawn had a series of pictures that depicted the events and he had the kids place them in proper order from beginning to end. We took a few minutes to discuss each event. At the end of the lesson I asked my kids a question to see if they understood the meaning of Easter. The question I ask was, "Why don't we wear crosses or display crosses in our homes, chapels or temples?" I know this seems like a simple question but I felt if they could answer this question than they knew why we celebrated Easter.

There answer in unison, "Because we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ."

The death of Jesus Christ is not only an important event in history and an amazing gift but by itself it is not complete. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is what gives us hope and joy in our everyday life. With both of these acts completed by our Savior Jesus Christ the Atonement was fullfilled.

M. Russell Ballard, Apostle of Jesus Christ, said:

The Atonement of Jesus Christ was an indispensable part of our Heavenly Father’s plan for His Son’s earthly mission and for our salvation. How grateful we should be that our Heavenly Father did not intercede but rather withheld His fatherly instinct to rescue His Beloved Son. Because of His eternal love for you and for me, He allowed Jesus to complete His foreordained mission to become our Redeemer. The gift of resurrection and immortality is given freely through the loving grace of Jesus Christ to all people of all ages, regardless of their good or evil acts. And to those who choose to love the Lord and who show their love and faith in Him by keeping His commandments and qualifying for the full blessings of the Atonement, He offers the additional promise of exaltation and eternal life, which is the blessing of living in the presence of God and His Beloved Son forever.

I am grateful for the opportunity I have everyday to repent and receive forgiveness from my Heavenly Father through my Savior Jesus Christ. I look forward to living with my family for eternity. I know that Jesus Christ lives and he loves us.

There is a great video on youtube entitled "He lives." You can watch it below. I hope you all have a happy easter.

Hey! To change my header, I created the "picture" on Photoshop. (There are other places you can make them) Then you go to "layout" and click on the header at the top. It pops up a window and gives the option to "remove" the picture you have. Then you add a different one, by browsing your computer and picking one. (I don't know how to get one online-my brain has limits)
:) Let me know if you still can't get it!
