King Cakes have arrived!

Well, Mardi Gras is officially over (this past tuesday) and we had a fun day eating jambalaya, gumbo and potato salad. I always make food for Shawns 3 offices so I have 2 done and next week I am doing th last. This year we were so excited to be able to find King Cakes locally. We have kind of cheated the last several years and ordered Kringles that have the frosting and sprinkles like king cake but really taste nothing like them. So when we found them we bought 12 of them. Now what did we do with 12 of them? A few went to work, a couple stayed at our house and then we passed them out to our neighbors, home teachers, and friends. We were so excited to share this part of our lives with them. We have our trip to New Orleans planned for spring break and we can't wait. Too bad we couldn't get there for Mardi Gras. Maybe next year.

Your blog is so fun and festive! :) I saw a King Cake at a bakery - and wondered about it, but didn't get it. Enjoy your vacation!

I miss colorful New Orleans. I miss the two miss Dots sitting on their front porches, talking about what they got at Mason Blanche. I miss camping out at the Gruwells and watching the parade ALL DAY (for the 10th day in a row) and waving to the Gomez's as they march by. (You know there's always a Gomez in the marching band.) I miss King Cake. I saw our old chapel (or rather, the vacant lot where the chapel stood) in the church news. I miss it. We went to a Mardi Gras party this year. The hosts passed out beads and everyone said "what's this all about, mate?" and I had to say "You have no idea. . . " Say hi to New Orleans for me, during spring break.
