Just A Little Catch Up

So we are preparing our basement to get this really cool decorative cement floor. As part of that preperation we had to chip the tile out of the bathroom. Shawn took on the challenge and went down to work. About half way through the chipping he came up stares with his hand on his head..yes he was wearing protective eye wear....and he took his hand off and blood just started dripping everywhere. The cut however was maybe 1/4 of an inch big but it was just bleeding like crazy. So we got a cloth and he sat on the floor while I went across the street to our neighbors house to see if she had in butterfly bandages (because she is a nurse and more prepared then I am). My great neighbor Cheryl came over and began her nursing duties. Once the bleeding was stopped she cleaned up his head and outfitted him with a butterly bandage on his head.

While Shawn was waiting for the bleeding to stop he couldn't sit still so he and Kurt (Cheryl's husband) went up into the attic to see if we had any exta cable cord laying around. Here you see Shawn holding a nice box of spinach on his head as he waits for the bleeding to stop.

Ryker celebrated his 3rd birthday on March 1st. He was so excited and couldn't wait for March 1st. He could tell anyone who ask that his birthday was march 1st thanks to Aunt Kirsten. We celebrated as a family with cake and ice cream along with some really cool presents. Ryker really likes Lightning McQueen, Thomas the Train and Dora.

Kennedy has been taking voice lessons for several weeks now and she just had a end of class performance. She sang two group numbers and then two solo numbers. On the first solo number the girls each got up and introduced themselves by stating their name, age and grade and then they sang their song. When the second solo song came around the girls just stood up and sang their song. However when it was Kennedy's turn she stood up and said, "Hi my name is Kennedy"--I felt so embarrased for her because I thought she was so nervous she was just repeating what she had done the first time---but then out of her mouth came.."and in case you were wondering my name hasn't changed in the last 10 minutes." The entire room including her brothers started laughing out loud. It was so funny and she thought it was great. Shortly after she tried out for the school talent show and she got the "GOLDEN TICKET" (Yes I'm a huge American Idol fan) and she was picked to perform in the talent show. She did a fantastic job.

Carters 10th birthday was in February and because he always invites at least 20 kids to his party we have decided it is better to do his parties outside of our home. This year he chose to have a party at the local fitness center. The boys were able to swim, rock climb, play basketball and play in the game center. Then at the end we had the ice cream cake and opened presents. We love Carter and can't believe that he is already 10 years old. He is so good natured and he is the boy who has never met a stranger, he is a friend to everyone. We could all learn from him.

Hi Joella, I enjoyed reading through your blog this morning and getting to know you and your family better. And I went back to February to see those dresses you sewed. They are gorgeous. You are a very talented lady. Are you ready to sew a hundred detective costumes for YW camp? :)

Joella, knowing your family, I'd think for sure you'd have butterfly bandages. :) I'm impressed that Kennedy has such a great sense of humor. It's good to see your family. You guys are awesome.
